"The Village"

I have run across this several times in my life and each time I realize another impact that these statistics have on our world's quality of life (how our policies and attitudes do not accurately incorporate these facts and thus work inefficiently and to the detriment of those not-considered)...

"If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would like the following. There would be:

57 Asians | 21 Europeans | 14 W. Hemisphere | 8 Africans
52 Females | 48 Males
70 Non-White | 30 White
30 Christian | 70 Non-Christian
11 Homosexual | 89 Heterosexual

6 would possess 59% of the world's wealth, and all would be from the U.S.

80 would live in substandard housing

70 would be illiterate

50 would suffer from malnutrition

1 would be near death | 1 would be near birth

Only 1 would have a college education... and only 1 would own a computer."
